Myopia Management at Eyes on Hudson

At Eyes on Hudson, we strive to deliver the best in eye-technology to our patients of all ages, including kids! Our doctors of optometry care for children ages 10 and up, and for those needing myopia management (to slow the progression of myopia, thus preventing a lifetime of myopia related diseases and costs), are pleased to be able to offer several different options.

Stellest: first in class glasses lenses that use optics to slow the progression of myopia. 1021 lenslets are arranged in concentric rings that create myopic defocus in front of the retina while leaving a clear central zone for vision correction. Clinical trials report ~71% average reduction in myopia progression when Stellest lenses are worn full-time.

MiSight: FDA-approved contact lenses to slow the progression of myopia. Trial data shows around 59% reduction in progression of myopia over 3 years. For current contact lens wearers, it is a fairly straightfoward switch, but involving 6 month follow up visits to monitor progression. For new wearers we provide training.

Both have similar published efficacy in slowing myopia progression. The differentiator is usually the child's age, responsibility level, and family preference for glasses vs. contacts.

For children younger than 10 years old who have a prescription from an outside provider, we are happy to fill their Rxs for Stellest and MiSight.
